OUR MISSION: EDUCATE, ENGAGE AND EMPOWER EACH STUDENT TO SUCCEED IN A DYNAMIC WORLD.
OUR VISION: TO BE AMONG THE WOLRD'S LEADERS IN EDUCATION, ENRICHING THE LIVES OF MILITARY-CONNECTED STUDENTS AND THE COMMUNITIES IN WHICH THEY LIVE.
For our families, here are some interesting facts about our school: Ryukyu Middle School is a Department of Defense Dependents School (DoDDS) for grades 6-8 located on Kadena Air Force Base, Okinawa. Ryukyu Middle School supports the educational needs of the Marine, Air Force, Navy, Army, and DoD civilian families on Kadena AFB and from the northly Marine communities. Ryukyu Middle School adheres to a typical United States curricular and extracurricular program under the auspices of the United States Department of Defense Dependents Schools.
The current Ryukyu Middle School was completed in 2008, making it the newest of the school facilities on Okinawa. Our faculty members are dedicated to making our students’ educational experiences both positive and productive. In addition to our high academic expectations at Ryukyu Middle School, we also offer students the opportunity to participate in a broad range of extra-curricular activities. Academic clubs include but are not limited to National Junior Honor Society, Math Counts, and Academic Success Clubs. Other clubs include a wide variety of physical activities, yearbook, gardening, and other similar endeavors based on student interest.
While students are encouraged to participate in activities outside the classroom, parents are invited to join in too. We are always pleased to work with the community and especially the organizations which support our school: HaBooster Club, School Advisory Committee, and a wide variety of volunteer opportunities. Please remember to access this school Internet site, and through our school Intranet (Sharepoint) site, for the current master calendar, student bulletins, and a wealth of school information.
Ryukyu Middle School (RMS) is a Department of Defense field activity operating under the direction, authority, and control of the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and readiness and the Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Military Community and Family Policy.
